One of North Hall High School’s traditions is a powderpuff game between the juniors and seniors. During this game, the junior and senior classes play a scrimmage game of flag football.
Though Powderpuff is not a typical football game, instead of the boys playing the game and the girls cheerleading, the roles are switched. Although this is just a rough scrimmage, some students take it very seriously.

During this game of flag football, the girls are the players and the boys are in the uniforms cheerleading. Some of the junior class male cheerleaders included Hayden Cook and Taylor Shubert, and the senior class one-man cheer squad featured Richard Templeton. Like a typical football game, there is a half-time show where the cheerleaders performed a routine that they practiced ahead of time. The junior cheerleaders, the “Dallas Cowboys,” danced and performed stunts that wowed the crowd, and the senior cheerleader busted out some cartwheels and referenced Fortnite dance moves.

During preparation for the big game day, each class had assigned coaches, cheerleaders, and players. A few of the coaches for the junior class were Drew Faulkner, Daulton Gonzalez, Daniel Jackson, and Erin Sanchez. Some of the senior coaches included Lance Clark, Landon Earnest, Mitch Seymour, Noah Holman, and Trey Pardue. Each class had about two weeks to practices and tries to learn the ins and outs of flag football. The final game day took place on May 14 in the NHHS brickyard stadium due to a rain postponement. The event, sponsored by the FCA, concluded in a senior victory with a score of 14-12. It was a close game and both classes gave it their all.
